Going Home

Well, we had to make an unexpected trip to Arkansas this week. My grandmother passed away last weekend. It was nice to get to see all of my family - Natalie had fun on what she thought was a mini-vacation. The picture above is looking over the ridge behind my dad's house. We couldn't believe how green everything was! Spring hasn't really started in Chicago yet, so it was like we got a little taste. Even the tulips were blooming. We also took the opportunity to catch up with some of our friends who we don't get to see very often. This quote from Judy Blume sums it up: "We are friends for life. When we're together the years fall away. Isn't that what matters? To have someone who can remember with you? To have someone who remembers how far you've come?"Plus, it's fun to get the kids together. They had a great time playing together and fell into being friends as easily as it happened for their parents all those years ago.I will miss my grandmother - especially during Spring Time. When I was little they lived on a farm and she would take me for walks out through the front pasture, past the pond, to a ridge that was filled with daffodils. We would pick as many as we could carry and there would still be thousands more. We would bring them back and put them in little jars and juice glasses. They made everything beautiful. I'm certain she has a room full of them right now.
